The Carbon Reduction Committment Energy Efficiency Scheme comes in to force in April 2010
This scheme applies to all businesses which used 6,000MWh of half hourly metered electricity between January and December 2008. The scheme aims to improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions in the UK. Organisations which meet the above consumption criteria are obliged to participate and will have to monitor their emissions and purchase allowances sold by the government for every tonne of CO2 they emit
